About Me

ABOUT DR. EASTER

I am a Registered Psychologist (#3932) in Alberta with over 20 years of counselling experience and over a decade of post-graduate psychology focused training. I offer counselling services to adults (18+) and seniors, both individually and in couples. I also offer group therapy services. In my practice I am committed to providing a caring, compassionate and non-judgemental space for you to explore what’s troubling you and work towards your goals.
Currently, I am accepting new clients.

EXPERIENCE

I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including non-profit organizations, university counselling clinics, and outpatient hospital wards. I have also taught at a university level both undergraduate and graduate level courses in Psychology, Educational Psychology, Counselling Psychology, and Patient-centred Medical Care. In my role as a therapist I have had the privilege and honour of working with clients from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, religious and spiritual beliefs, sexual orientations, ages, life stages, and life experiences.

PERSONAL

I paint and sculpt, and am drawn to character-driven books, TV shows and movies, where the complexity of the human experience is reflected. I adore dogs (especially pugs) and find one of the most joyful and soothing experiences in just sitting next to a dog and scratching them behind the ears. Yes, I have been known to lose my cool in traffic! I can feel anxious at times. I have known grief and loss. I have known what it feels like to not have it all figured out. I have had struggles and know what it's like to sit where my clients sit. I'm human too!

BACKGROUND

I have a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta, which is one of only four such programs across Canada accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). This program is committed to enhanced training and expertise in psychotherapy. I have also completed additional training in Compassion Fatigue with the Traumatology Institute in Toronto, ON and am a Certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist. I have advanced training in working with healthcare providers, those struggling with anxiety, and partners of individuals with sexual addictions.

DID YOU KNOW?

I have had an eclectic and varied career background. I have post-graduate training in Marketing Management and, before pursuing post-graduate education in Psychology, had previously worked in the fields of marketing, promotions, advertising, and corporate training. SoI know what it's like to work outside the field of psychology, like many of my clients. I know the pressures, the deadlines, and different work cultures. I also know what it's like to yearn for meaningful work and a sense of purpose, as well as the adventure and stressors that come with career transitions.

MEANING

She could never go back and make some of the details pretty.

All she could do was move forward and make the whole beautiful.
